What the manufacturer says:

The High Route is an ultra-lightweight tent that uses trekking poles (poles not included) in its construction rather than traditional tent poles. This makes it suitable as either a tent or a tarp when camping in warmer, drier conditions.

The flysheet is made from a 20D silicone-coated nylon with a hydrostatic head of 3000mm, making the tent extremely lightweight yet fully waterproof. The floor uses a similar 30D silicone-coated nylon for a little extra durability and protection. The inner is made from a mixture of nylon and mesh, providing additional airflow.

Thanks to its trekking pole set up, the walls are near enough vertical, meaning you’ve got tonnes of interior space. This also means there are no sleeves to pull poles out from, so it’s quick to collapse when you’re finished with it. While we’re talking about collapsing it, the High Route will pack down to the same size as a 1L water bottle.

If the weather permits, you can remove the flysheet entirely and camp with just the inner acting as a bug shelter. In less favourable conditions, you can remove the inner and just use the flysheet on its own — this gives you weather protection with reduced weight for ultra-minimalist camping.

  • Trekking pole set up
  • Vertical walls offer plenty of space
  • Small vestibule with space for kit
  • Tarp or tent configuration
  • Simple and easy to pitch

What we think:

The High Route 3000 is a great addition to your three season adventures. We have pitched it is some pretty poor weather but wouldn’t advise anything too crazy. The tent is at its absolute finest in reasonable weather with a larger area of flat ground than you would expect from a one man tent due to its asymmetry. Getting the tent up is an absolute breeze and it packs down to just below 1 kg making it our current go-to for ultralight trips. You will need two walking poles to use this tent so please borrow some at the same time if you don’t have any.
